Do you have a Pinterest business account and are ready to take the next step in gaining traffic from Pinterest? Are you ready to start increasing your page views from Pinterest? Well, the next step in increasing traffic through Pinterest is ensuring your pins are set up as "Rich Pins".
What are Rich Pins?
What in the world are rich pins you ask? According to Pinterest: "Rich Pins provide more context about an idea because they show extra information directly on a Pin. There are four types of Rich Pins: app, product, recipe, and article.".
Basically, Rich Pins show pinners more information about the article or product that the pin is trying to advertise. Rich pins allow you as a business to have a small snippet below the pin graphic that gives the client the information they need and also shows the source of the pin. This legitimizes your pin in the eyes of a pinner. You don't want to go to just anyone's website, do you? Neither do your potential readers.
Having Rich Pins enables you to use the "description" box to enter keywords instead of a blurb about the pin since this information is now coming directly from your website.

Insert Meta Data into your website
If you are anything like me, you are constantly learning and might have no idea what metadata is or maybe you do but don't know how to insert it into your website. No big deal, basically metadata is what you insert into your pictures or the backend of your blog post. This is text that will show up whenever you share this post or picture onto another platform. Basically, you have a small section to share with people a snippet of what your product or article is about. This is your chance to convince them that they must click through to read more about your awesome product.
If you have never done this on Squarespace it is super easy. To enter metadata for a post: Go to your pages>blog or product page>then click "edit" on your specific product or blog post.
Next, you want to enter your metadata we spoke about it in your blog post or product info. For this, you go to the top and click "options". Here you can see at the very bottom a spot for an "exerpt". This is where you will enter a small snippet which gives others a brief idea about what the page is about. Click "save" and you my friend have entered "metadata onto Squarespace!
Apply For Rich Pins
Now that you have entered your metadata onto your page you can officially apply for rich pins. Your first step is to go here and validate your pins. The same page you just entered your exerpt or metadata onto is the same url you need to use for the rich pins validator.
After entering a URL you should have a button that says "apply for rich pins" once completed this screen will show if your pins are validated and officially Rich Pins!
Congratulations you officially have Rich PIns! If you find yourself in a road bump, Pinterest is a great resource for assistance. Check out their help center or comment below if you have any questions or issues!
